THE HEALTH CARE DEBATE!!

The debate over health care has come to the for front of a lot of debate over the last months. With Obama's address to congress last week, the issue is being talked about more and more. On my Facebook I put up a status which I said "Free Health Care For All....Period". Well, needless to say I got some good feedback both for and against the issue from my friends and I would like to share that with you. Now, granted, some points made are questionable, but I still believe there were a good amount of credible problems that were addressed from both sides of the issue. The names of the people (except me) have been taken off for their benefit, but there wording is unchanged. After reading what they have to say please feel free to write your own comments if you think that we should have a Universal Government run Health Care.

no, get a job and pay for it. Just like I do. I don't want
to pay for other people's health care so they can have yet another reason to be a lazy a** bum.

Yeah, that's the American attitude right there. Out for only yourself, and don't care how many people that do have health care and pay just like everyone else but get denied there care anyway. The system we have now gives inventive to "denies as many people as possible in order to maximize profit for the insurance company". That's straight out of Ronald Reagan's mouth, you know, the one that created HMO's in the first place....but he was always in America's BEST interests right. We need a public system that gives incentives to doctors that help their patient have better health, not deny them their claim. You know, like they have in almost every other developed country in the world, like the UK, France, Canada and.........CUBA.

What facts? You stated NO facts. You just regurgitated the same bullshit that's being spit at you. I don't want SOCIALIZED healthcare, cause we ALREADY have a system for that. It's called MEDICAID and WELFARE. I agree that some people need assistance, and those people I have NO PROBLEM assisting. I do, however, have a problem with the people who sit on their a****s and dont' do s**t, or try, and then scream that it's not fair. I have fought for and EARNED every d**n thing that I have, both good and bad. You want a better life, get up and get one. Don't sit ther and expect me to hand you my hard earned money. And I know I'm not stating any facts. I'm stating my opinion on the situation. I do not like socialized healthcare, cause it's one step closer to SOCIALISM....anybody catch the same word usage there. And yes, that's the "American attitude" there. If you don't like it, go somewhere else. Cause that attitude made us the wealthy society we are. Come see this side.

The new system is designed to help people who do work as much as they can but still can't afford healthcare. You mean to tell me that because a single mother of 3 working 2 jobs neither of which offer health care benefits that can barely make ends meet doesn't deserve healthcare? Simple fact is our system is broken, its outdated. We're supposed live in the land of opportunity, but is that opportunity only for the wealthy?

And there are always gonna be people who sit on their a***s and leech the system. But there are a lot more who actually need this assistance. I'd rather my tax dollars go to helping sick underprivileged people than this stupid "war" thats been eating at the deficit for far too long.

I have no problem helping out that mother, who's trying. But that's not who's gonna benefit from this system. So that "new" system will be broke too. The ones who need it cause they can't get it, but are trying will not be able to get it, cause they're honest, those that could do it themselves, will get it, and keep the ones who can't from getting the help. And love to hear "war bashing" while I'm sitting in a hut in Afghanistan.

I think both of you are missing my point and getting a little off topic. Even though I do think that this plan they are purposing is a step in the right direction with the fact that you cannot be denied because of preexisting conditions or have your health care terminated when you get sick because they found some gallstone you forgot to tell them; I still, however, that it keeps the thing that is the privatization and making money off of people lives which is the current HMO/insurance companies around. Like you said, we are a rich nation and of the rich nations, we are one of the few with out Universal Health Care. People in America are so worried about having to pay for someone else, that they don't realize that if something were to happen and they the get cancer (god forbid) when their changing jobs and just happen to not have insurance at the time, they could be that "someone else" that needs help and can't afford it.....continued next post

I agree with you Ben. The system needs to be altered. But this new one is not the answer either. I agree the insurance companies have too much say in how things are done medically. That means alter that part of it. But we can not as a society, pay for EVERYONE to have health care. And you can't pay for the low income and not pay for the wealthy, cause that's discrimination, and promoting the fact that you don't have to work hard. Here's a system that'll fix it. Everybody serves in the military. Then everybody can get healthcare from the VA, which is excellent. My father was that person who got cancer and needed the help. He got it from the VA because he served. And, for your information, you didn't sign me up. I signed up so people like you could sit at home and b***h about everything, instead of being arrested for dissenting from the government. And cause I like my job. But yes, we need to fix the system, not scrap it and start over. It would take too long.

And on your Welfare and Medicaid comment, isn't medicaid and medicare just a round about/more complicated way of Universal Health Care. If everyone has a chance to have health care already, which they don't (even though there "suppose" to), then why not just say everyone has Health Care. All I'm saying is why not just increase the sales tax by 2% so and pay for it that way because even that person sitting on there ass doing nothing still needs a couch to sit there ass on or a TV to watch while sitting on there ass so in fact everyone will be paying there part, problem solved...pretty much, other than a few other things that I just don't feeling like explaining because I'm tired. But anyway, I'm starting up a blog so you guys can talk about it there when I get it set up in a couple of days, I do enjoy having healthy debates about stuff like this so thanks for your opinions.

because when you pay your taxes, it pisses you off that they take as much as they do. But also, because every time we give the government something to control over us, it undoes what our founding fathers fought for. Local control not federal. It's just like people saying it's ok to outlaw smoking cause I don't smoke. This time it doesn't affect... Read More me negatively, eventually it will. Right now it's something that's not a bad idea. But when you had over control of some part of your life.....it never just stays as that one part. If we give th gov the power to control healthcare then we also give them the power to control when and how we get it. so the power shifted from insurance companies to gov officials....who are manipulated by......insurance companies. That's how the system go to where it is now. We trade one group for another....that's controlled by the first.
